چکیده
We approach the task of computing a carefully synchronizing word minimum length for given partial deterministic automaton, encoding problem as an instance SAT and invoking solver. Our experiments demonstrate that this gives satisfactory results automata with up to 100 states even if very modest computational resources are used. compare our ones obtained by first author exact synchronization, which is another version synchronization studied in literature, draw some theoretical conclusions.

Subset Synchronization and Careful Synchronization of Binary Finite Automata
We consider the following generalized notion of synchronization: A word is called a reset word of a subset of states of a deterministic finite automaton if it maps all states of the set to a unique state. It is known that the minimum length of such words is superpolynomial in worst cases, namely in a series of substantially nontransitive automata. We present a series of transitive binary automa...
متن کاملDeterministic finite H-Automata and ω-regular partial languages
Partial words, that is, finite words with holes, were introduced in the 70s by Fischer and Paterson, with respect to bioinformatics applications. Infinite partial words were introduced later. Recently, Dassow et al.’s connected partial words and regular languages. In this paper, we extend the local partial languages to local ω-partial languages and study their closure properties. We introduce t...
متن کاملSynchronization of Finite Automata
Methods allowing the design of a synchronized sequential machine, working in the fundamental mode, and realizing the behaviour of any given finite automaton are studied from a theoretical point of view; the transformations of the initial flow table lead in a natural way to the definition and to the use of master-slave flip-flops. 1. Introduetion The aim of this paper is to give a theoretical ba...
متن کاملFailure Deterministic Finite Automata
Inspired by failure functions found in classical pattern matching algorithms, a failure deterministic finite automaton (FDFA) is defined as a formalism to recognise a regular language. An algorithm, based on formal concept analysis, is proposed for deriving from a given deterministic finite automaton (DFA) a language-equivalent FDFA. The FDFA’s transition diagram has fewer arcs than that of the...
متن کاملNon-Deterministic Finite Cover Automata
The concept of Deterministic Finite Cover Automata (DFCA) was introduced at WIA ’98, as a more compact representation than Deterministic Finite Automata (DFA) for finite languages. In some cases representing a finite language using a Non-deterministic Finite Automata (NFA) may significantly reduce the number of required states. The combined power of the succinctness of the representation of fin...
